Summer Learning 2024: Students Carry the Torch

With Summer Learning wrapped up, we’re thrilled to share the incredible strides our students have made! 600 Rochester students embraced this year’s Olympic theme, and dived into everything from geography and the rich history of the games to hands-on sports activities. They carried the torch of curiosity and clinched gold medals in academics and social skills!

Take a look at what our students have accomplished!

Elementary Summer Learning @ Nazareth University & St. John Fisher University

EnCompass Summer Learning promotes academic achievement and social-emotional development for elementary students. What sets EnCompass' model apart is Inquiry/Project-Based Learning, Targeted Tutoring, Data-Driven Instruction, and Social-Skill-Building.

EnCompass Elementary Summer Learning served 400 students hailing from Rochester schools and took place across two college campuses, Nazareth University and St. John Fisher University. The inquiry-based model allowed students to lead the way and targeted tutoring encouraged individualized learning, preventing summer slide.

Powerful Partnerships

Program coordinators leveraged relationships on both campuses to provide special experiences for students.

OT Professor & Co-Director of IPAW, Laura Poleshuck, provided 3-day per week reading with therapy dogs!
