EnCompass Provides Rochester Parents With Unique Learning Opportunity

As Rochester's only Chicago Parent Program provider, EnCompass: Resources for Learning delivers a unique development and learning opportunity for local parents. CPP's evidence-based approach is designed and delivered to meet the diverse needs and self-identified goals of the families we serve. This capacity-building and prevention-focused initiative is made possible by a grant from the Marie C. and Joseph C. Wilson Foundation.

The first 12-week program was held this spring at EnCompass and included 15 families from the community. Each week focused on different topics and tackled a variety of parenting questions surrounding daily routines, limit-setting, time-outs, and much more.

Almost 90% of participating families attended 10 sessions or more, and an astonishing 100% of parents said they would recommend CPP @ EnCompass to a friend or colleague. Participants said the following in how it helped them personally:

"To step back and realize there are alternatives and solutions to the issues within my family.

"They helped me a lot by giving me the tools I didn't have."

Parents also expressed that they used the program to engage with other parents to build connections within their community, an indication of sustainable success for families.
