"There's a whole new kitchen concept in Rochester" - Education Success Community Kitchen In the News

Students, supporters and community stakeholders gathered in the new Education Success Community Kitchen on June 4th to celebrate a new cooking and learning space set to transform the way we engage children, families and teens through our EnCompass Navigation programs. In the photo above Richard & Jennifer Sands (ESF, The Sands Family Foundation), Doug Bennett (Generation 3 Philanthropy Project), Courtney Winslow (ESF), Karla Gadley (Five Star Bank), and Joseph Martino (ESF) cut the ribbon on our Community Kitchen. Read more about Building A Community Kitchen or View News Story

In her dedication, Courtney Winslow, Education Success Board Member, perfectly expresses our vision and purpose for the new Community Kitchen, part of our comprehensive Edible Education Food Literacy initiative:

"Here at the Education Success Foundation, we know that supporting the whole family is the best way to support the child. With this kitchen we are able to bring families together, to yes, learn to cook healthy meals, but also to learn to talk to one another, to listen to each other, to support one another, and to build a stronger community together. This is our village and we must nourish it from the inside out.

With the kitchen we are now able to offer more programs to our families. We are able to expand our Edible Education Classes, by working with FoodLink to offer the “Chef and Families” programs where families will be creating meals in our kitchen to take home with them. This gives us more opportunities to support career readiness programs for teens in our Future Ready Program who have interests in the Culinary Arts. We are able to integrate our teaching gardens so that children and families can use our kitchen to turn what they are growing into healthy meals and snacks.

I ask that you continue with your support and share in the building of this village with us. Be a part of making a systematic change that we can all be proud of. With your support we can take full advantage of this space, and we promise to fill it with support, laughter and good food. You always will have a seat at the table here at Education Success Foundation."

Joseph Martino, Education Success Foundation CEO, adds:

"Education Success Foundation is focused on helping students succeed in school and in life! Our Community Kitchen and its homestyle kitchen stations will help us continue to engage with students and families emphasizing the importance of healthy eating and how good nutrition supports academic achievement. Thank you to all of our sponsors who have made this kitchen and many opportunities for hands on learning possible!"
