Bringing Arts & Academics To Our New Neighborhood

Partnering with students, families, and schools to provide all children with an opportunity to succeed in school and in life is what Education Success Foundation is all about!

Our new main campus is located at 1001 Lake Avenue (formerly the Nazareth Academy campus) in the Maplewood Neighborhood, a diverse community with over 16,000 residents. In just 2 years, The Sands Family Campus has become base camp for our EnCompass program; an afterschool program site for 250 students grades k- 12; and home to Exploration Elementary Charter School for Science and Technology, and Rochester Prep High School. And, we are doing even more...

EnCompass Neighborhood Arts is a demonstration project of our whole-child approach – and in full swing on The Sands Family Campus. This free, safe, afterschool program links children and families with academic services, arts-based enrichment, and critical needs-based supports – within their own neighborhood. Historically, Nazareth Neighborhood Arts was implemented by The Sisters of Saint Joseph. Working alongside Sister Barbara Starpoli (founder), we've expanded the reach and scope of the program to offer afterschool learning 3 days per week, 2 hours per day for 22 students. Elementary students from Rochester City Schools #15, 8, 9, and 50 participate. Several are refugee families from Burma, Laos, Bhutan and Nepal who live within walking distance of our campus.

Students have taken part in a body and movement program, hip hop dance experience, and will begin the creation of the community garden, and cooking activities that allow them to experience food in fun and creative ways!

Neighborhood Arts is made possible in part by the John F. Wegman Fund at the Rochester Area Community Foundation and the Wilson Foundation.
