Parents lead the way...
Family Navigation is a free and voluntary program designed to support you in order for you to support your child’s success at home, in the community, and at school. Typically, you would work with a navigator for about 12 months. You would work with a navigator one-on-one. Together, you would connect to community resources to address challenges that may be getting in the way of your ability to focus on supporting your child’s academic success. Family Navigation offers a variety of whole family events. These activities can help you get to know other families in your child’s school community. These events might include cooking classes, zoo outings, ice skating get togethers, RMCS trips, Red Wings games, drive-in movie nights and even overnight camping trips.

Family Navigation takes a solution-focused, family-driven approach to supporting families in identifying goals that are important to them in achieving success for their student. Families often identify basic needs, lack of resources, or missing information as barriers to success. Navigations work with families to create solutions together in partnership.
Family Navigators work to build partnerships with the families they serve so they can support families in developing relationships with their student's school community and the community they live in.
Through program events, community resource connections, and other partnerships, Family Navigation offers unique opportunities for families to engage together and with others to form relationships. Family Navigation also uses family feedback to create tailored programming to increase knowledge on topics like parenting, financial education, and understanding the educational system.
